Letitia (Jones) Horace was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas. She is the daughter of Debra (Jones) Weatherall and is a proud graduate of the JHS Class of ‘95. Following high school, Letitia attended Texas A&M University at Commerce, graduating with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Criminal Justice.
Her professional career began with a nonprofit organization in the DFW area. It was there that she was introduced to the concept of community revitalization & development. Letitia worked in collaboration with local leaders to empower them and connect them to local resources that would assist them in bringing about effective change in their respective communities. It was this experience that solidified her desire to continue a career path dedicated to others. In 2004, she moved to Denver, CO and for the next 15 years, worked with non-profit organizations creating and developing vital services for underserved communities with a focus on providing safe, decent affordable housing. Within these organizations, she managed multi-million dollar operational and departmental budgets as well as a real estate portfolio that included over 300 residential units and 5 commercial properties. During her time in Colorado, Letitia was a member of the Colorado State Housing Board as a Governor appointee, a Board Member for Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation and for several other nonprofit organizations.
Letitia is married to the love of her life, Delano Horace, who is a native of San Antonio. They have been married for 17 years (and counting) and have two wonderful and amazing sons, Daylen & Devon. Since moving to Jacksonville in 2018, she has fully immersed herself in the Jacksonville community. She and her husband completed the Citizens Police Academy Class and Letitia was also a member of Jacksonville’s Charter Committee and is currently enrolled in the Jacksonville Leadership Institute Class 2022-2023. Letitia has volunteered with several organizations including IMPACT Jacksonville, HOPE, and the Cherokee County Human Needs Network. She has also played an integral role in several projects, including initiating Jacksonville’s first Housing Needs Assessment, organizing Voter Registration Drives, developing & facilitating Homebuying Workshops, participating in the Lincoln Park Revitalization efforts, and organizing Neighbors Helping Neighbors which is a community workday event in which volunteers helped paint, landscape and complete minor repairs projects on homes in the Lincoln Park community. She is passionate about building a better community for all, and she is eager to help District 1, whose heritage and revitalization are near & dear to her heart, to become a thriving part of our beloved town once again.
