 What is Crime Prevention?

Crime Prevention is the anticipation, recognition and appraisal of   a crime risk and the initiation of some action to remove or reduce it.

What does that mean?

This means that Crime Prevention is everyone’s business. It means reducing crime and making communities safer and more secure for our families.  It’s a responsibility for all levels of government. Crime prevention requires a central position in Law enforcement. An active cooperation among all elements of the community. Crime prevention also requires education. Education for officers and the people in the community. Crime prevention is linked to solving social problems and it is cost effective. Crime prevention can be tailored to local needs and conditions.

What does Crime Prevention improve?

THE QUALITY OF LIFE FOR EVERY COMMUNITY

Which means:

In Crime Prevention being proactive is a must. We as citizen’s have to want to make our neighborhoods a safe place for our children to grow up in. Citizen’s have to make an effort to assist the police department in putting a stop to some of the criminal element that is in our city. Take that first step to help yourself and your family. See a crime, report the crime. Call 911 in the event of an emergency. Non-emergency call (903) 586-2546. Be proud to help the police fight crime in our community.
