Mayor Pro-Tem Tim McRae

  1. Tim McRae was elected to Council in 2019, after previously serving from 1994-1997 including one year as Mayor Pro-Tem. Tim is a managing partner of Bill McRae Ford Lincoln in Jacksonville, a 1978 graduate of Jacksonville High School, a 1980 graduate of Tyler Junior College and, a 1983 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors’ in Business Administration. Tim is also a certified instrument rated pilot, receiving his certification in June of 1981 with an instrument rating added in 1984. Tim is a member of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, where he also serves as Chair of the Church Leadership Council. Tim currently serves as Chair of the Nan Travis Foundation Board and the Chair of the Cherokee County Airport Advisory Board. He has served several terms on the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and currently serves on the board of the  Jacksonville Economic Development Corp. Tim also represents Cherokee County on the NET RMA (North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority) Board. Tim is a member of Rotary International in Jacksonville and served as a previous president. Tim has served on other boards such as the Family and Child Welfare, Crisis Center, Crime Stoppers (several years as president) and Kiwanis International of Jacksonville. Tim has been a tee-ball coach, a Sunday school teacher and served on various committees surrounding the school, church and community. Tim was bestowed the honors of  Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce 2004 Outstanding Business Man and the 2009 Outstanding Citizen of the year. Tim and his wife Dawn have been married for over 33 years and have two children, Lindsey and Mitch, ages 32 and 30. They also have one daughter-in-law (Maria) and four grandsons (Sutton, Felix, Zeke and Jax).
