Tim McRae was elected to Council in 2019, after previously serving from 1994-1997 including one year as Mayor Pro-Tem. Bill is a managing partner of Bill McRae Ford Lincoln in Jacksonville, a 1978 graduate of Jacksonville High School, a 1980 graduate of Tyler Junior College and, a 1983 graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelors’ in Business Administration. Tim is also a certified instrument rated pilot, receiving his certification in June of 1981 with an instrument rating added in 1984. Bill is a member of First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, where he also serves as Chair of the Church Leadership Council. Bill currently serves as Chair of the Nan Travis Foundation Board and the Chair of the Cherokee County Airport Advisory Board. He has served several terms on the Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and currently serves on the board of the Jacksonville Economic Development Corp. Bill also represents Cherokee County on the NET RMA (North East Texas Regional Mobility Authority) Board. Bill is a member of Rotary International in Jacksonville and served as a previous president. Bill has served on other boards such as the Family and Child Welfare, Crisis Center, Crime Stoppers (several years as president) and Kiwanis International of Jacksonville. Bill has been a tee-ball coach, a Sunday school teacher and served on various committees surrounding the school, church and community. Bill was bestowed the honors of Jacksonville Chamber of Commerce 2004 Outstanding Business Man and the 2009 Outstanding Citizen of the year. Bill and his wife Dawn have been married for 33 years and have two children, Lindsey and Mitch, ages 32 and 30. They also have one daughter-in-law (Maria) and four grandsons (Sutton, Felix, Zeke and Jax).
